Baby/Child Dedication Guidelines

We at Northeast Church are very excited that you would like to dedicate your baby or child.

The dedication ceremony is an act of worship and thanksgiving.  It is a public commitment you make before God, your church, and your family.  It provides you (the parents) an opportunity to publicly express your desire to lead and spiritually nurture your child in cooperation with the Holy Spirit so that your child will develop a desire to love God, make Jesus Christ their Savior, and love others.

We believe that it indeed takes a village to raise a child.  More than ever parents need the prayers, support, and spiritual guidance of their church family as they experience the peaks and valleys of raising godly children.  Northeast Church is here to assist you as you bring up your child in the admonition of the Lord.

Who may dedicate a child?

The parents or legal guardian(s).
Are there requirements for the parents/guardians?  Yes, parents/guardians must:
Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Be active members of Northeast Church.
Attend a Child Dedication meeting.

Why should I dedicate my child?

Baby dedication has been modeled throughout scripture.  Hannah brought her long-awaited son, Samuel, to the priest Eli to dedicate him to the Lord (1 Samuel 24-28) and Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple for his dedication (Luke 2:21-31).

Who may attend the baby/child dedication?

We encourage you to invite your family and friends to attend the dedication ceremony and celebrate this special day with you.
